Description
The bouquet is a medley of red summer berries, interwoven with touches of sweet spice: nutmeg, sandalwood and a little dried mint. An especially long submerged cap during fermentation has drawn the tannins out, creating a firm structure to house the exuberant fruit. This wine perfectly showcases Fontana’s modus vivandi: inherently respectful of tradition, yet with an intuitive eye to the future. I had jotted down in my tasting notes, “what I always imagined Barolo to be”. It’s a wonderful wine that sings of the true expression of the grape, the terroir and the philosophy of the winemaker.Berry Bros. & Rudd
