The Softglass Totem Water Pipe combines borosilicate glass with a substantial, weighted silicone base for a design that’s both distinctive and practical. The sculptural base gives the Totem a stable footprint, while the removable glass components provide the familiar experience of an all-glass bowl, downstem, and upper chamber. At just over 7″ tall, it’s compact enough for everyday use without feeling like a tiny piece—and the modular construction makes it much easier to take apart when it’s time to clean. Why We Like It The weighted, platinum-cured silicone base is what sets the Totem apart. It gives the pipe a lower center of gravity and more stability on a table than you’d expect from its relatively compact size. We also like that Softglass hasn’t replaced the important glass components with silicone. Your flower sits in a borosilicate glass bowl, which connects to a glass downstem and glass cone top, while the silicone serves as the durable foundation holding everything together. And because those pieces come apart, you can clean the glass and silicone separately instead of trying to reach every surface through a narrow opening. For the borosilicate glass, Softglass recommends a mixture of sea salt and at least 70% isopropyl alcohol. For the silicone base, use at least 70% isopropyl alcohol, rinse thoroughly with water, and allow it to dry completely before reassembling. Isopropyl alcohol may temporarily cause the silicone to expand, so don’t be alarmed if you notice a temporary change in fit immediately after cleaning.
